Indianapolis VAMC PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency

Dr. Elayne Ansara Greetings!

Thank you for your interest in the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program at the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC in Indianapolis, Indiana. The PGY2 Psychiatry Residency program aims to train residents to perform confidently as an independent practitioner in a variety of psychiatric care settings, to become an effective educator, preceptor, leader, and professional, and develop critical thinking and learning skills. The program is designed to provide the resident opportunities to confidently assume progressive clinical roles.

Residents will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of patient care settings under the supervision of board certified psychiatric pharmacists. These areas include acute psychiatric care, ambulatory psychiatric care, and residential rehabilitation. Required longitudinal experiences in operations, medication safety, research and practice management allow for the well-rounded development of the resident. Elective opportunities in treating serious mental illness, addictions, pain management, neurology and toxicology offer the resident flexibility, tailoring the program to the career aspirations of each resident.

The facility provides a positive learning environment creating independent, confident practitioners, direction for development of professional goals, constructive and positive feedback. We appreciate your consideration in our program and feel that our entire pharmacy staff places a great deal of emphasis into continued improvement in resident training. We are a dedicated group of preceptors and take great pride in all residents that train at this facility. We understand that the choice to do a PGY2 residency is not necessarily an easy one, however, we believe that the investment is well worth it given the positions that you will be eligible for.

Once again thank you for your consideration in this program and as always our preceptors are happy to answer any questions you may have about our program. If you would like to learn more about our program, please come to the Indianapolis VA Residency Showcase at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting. Applications will be accepted through PhORCAS and the program will be participating in the ASHP Match Program.
