Veterans House Memorial Brick Project
The Veterans House is a "home away from home" for Veterans and their families here for an extended medical stay. The Memorial Brick patio will be located out the back door of the house where families will gather to enjoy the outside.
Americans love memorials. We have them everywhere, and here in Indianapolis we enjoy more armed forces memorials than any other city in America, second only to Washington, D.C.
Employees, Veterans and their families have another worthy opportunity to set up a memorial. We can memorialize, or commemorate, a loved Veteran through the Memorial Brick Project at the Veterans House.
The house is located on our Cold Spring Road campus. A grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. has made this “home away from home” possible, but continued donations will keep it operating.
The house has twenty-eight fully furnished suites for Veterans who are receiving extended care at the Medical Center and their families. Voluntary Service is looking to raise about one million dollars by the opening of the house this fall to cover the initial furnishing and operating costs.
Warrior’s Hope, Inc is a local non-profit organization that is helping to receive these funds through their Memorial Brick Project.
The Memorial Brick Project is a way for an individual, family, church, school, and service organization to honor their organization or community group, or to remember a Veteran and honor their service by engraving their service information on a brick.
Brick donations levels are from $100 to $500, and patrons get the most for their donation on the largest brick priced at $500. A walkway/patio area will be built using these commemorative bricks in a special area at the back of the house.

A memorial, by definition, is a fitting tribute, giving testimony to lives of service. The Memorial Brick Project is a very respectful way to esteem these lives.
