VetLink Makes Check-in Easier
The innovative touch-screen technology allows Veterans to check-in for prescheduled appointments, update personal information, review insurance information and check their account balances at the ‘point of service’.
Starting next month, Veterans will have an easier way to check in for their appointments. Your VA medical center is installing kiosks at clinic (and other support) locations. Veterans will use their Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC) at the kiosks to not only check in but to also verify their personal information, insurance and account balances.
Started by the Veterans Point of Service program, the VetLink kiosk is a national initiative. The innovative touch-screen technology allows Veterans to check-in for prescheduled appointments, update personal information, review insurance information and check their account balances at the ‘point of service’.
There are many ways to check-in to your appointment. Veterans can swipe their VA ID Card, or their VHIC, or simply type in their social security number.
The VetLink system is secure and designed to ensure Veteran privacy. The kiosk does not store patient information and is equipped with a privacy screen and a proximity sensor to reset when a user walks away.
The Veteran does not have to use the kiosk, it is only voluntary to do so. Staff will continue to be available to check-in as normal at the front desk of their clinic. Staff are also able to assist Veterans with the kiosk as well.
There are several convenient advantages: no waiting in line; help is close by; update your personal information; get a printed appointment schedule to help you manage all your appointments for that day.
