"To Your Door Service" Prescription Mailing
"To Your Door Service" will reduce waiting times for our Veterans in the Outpatient Pharmacy at the medical center, and help them get in and out more quickly.
"To Your Door Service" is the motto of a new pharmacy initiative at VAMC Indianapolis. On May 1, 2011, all prescription refills and many new prescriptions will be mailed directly to the Veteran's residence. This reduces waiting times in the Outpatient Pharmacy and help Veterans get in and out of the Medical Center quickly.
Veterans requiring an antibiotic, new pain medication, insulin, or new high blood pressure medication will be able to pick up the medication in the Pharmacy the same day. Veterans requiring a new mental health medication will also be permitted to pick up their medication, as will those Veterans who are homeless.
It is important to order medication refills ten-fourteen days ahead of need. Refills can be ordered by several methods:
• MyHealtheVet offers on-line refill service.
• Mail refill slips; refill slips can be mailed as early as the day after receipt of the medication.
• A 365/24/7 telephone refill service is available by dialing 317-988-4370 or 1-888-878-6889–(remember to have your SSN available).
• If you need to talk to someone about your refill, dial 217-988-4370 and follow the prompts. You will be connected to the pharmacy telephone center.
At Indianapolis, we are committed to reducing customer waiting times. "To your door service" from the Pharmacy gets you home faster and eliminates the inconvenience of waiting in the Medical Center for your prescription.
