Quest for Quality Recognition
Indianapolis VAMC offers advanced treatment through multiple specialty programs.
The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center has been recognized by the American Hospital Association (AHA) for its leadership and innovation in quality improvement and safety.
The AHA’s McKesson Quest for Quality Prize is presented annually. Your Indianapolis VAMC was one of five U.S. hospitals honored this year. The prize represents our organizational commitment to and progress in achieving the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) six quality aims — safety, patient-centeredness, effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness and equity. One goal of the award is to honor hospitals that are making progress in quality improvement with models that can be replicated by others in the hospital field.
In the words of Tom Mattice, medical center Director, “The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical center is proud to serve Veterans and is committed to the highest level of quality and safety. We have made impressive efforts in community engagement to improve the health status of the Veteran population we serve. Our staff demonstrates a passion for their patients, working with homeless veterans, offering suicide prevention services, family support, job training and other wellbeing efforts.”
At the heart of all we do, quality care for our Veterans is priority.
The medical center has also received Bronze Certification by the Planetree Organization for its dedication to patient centered care and has been named to Health & Hospital Network’s “Most Wired” for 10 years running. This year, the “Most Wired” recognition was in the “Advanced” category for far exceeding the standards. The Most Wired Advanced designation was only awarded to 20 institutions. A leader in the application of systems redesign and lean thinking, the medical center is proud of the tradition of improving safety, patient centeredness, effectiveness, efficiency, timeliness and equity.
The AHA is a not-for-profit association of health care provider organizations and individuals that are committed to the improvement of health in their communities. The AHA is the national advocate for its members, which includes nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks and other providers of care. The Quest for Quality recognition is the highest level of recognition bestowed by the American Hospital Association.
“These remarkable hospitals started an important journey with their staff, patients and communities to create a culture that prizes safe and effective care,” said Rich Umbdenstock, AHA’s President and CEO. “By involving their whole organization, these hospitals have become national leaders in providing the highest quality of care.”
