The Veterans House of Indianapolis promises to be a welcoming “home away from home” for Veterans and their families during an extended hospital stay.

As construction continues at the VA’s Cold Spring Road campus, many pieces are rapidly coming together as the medical center builds both the structure and the infrastructure. Recently, Recreational Therapist Kimberly Few,  8 year employee of the VA, was announced as the new program manager for the Veterans House. “This is a perfect opportunity for me“, said Few.  “I’ve worked with veteran service organizations and volunteer groups in a variety of  settings,  and I think that experience prepares me very well for this program.”

Many groups and individuals have contributed to the success of the emerging Veterans House program. Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) are working diligently to raise funds to help furnish the house, and provide the daily essentials needed to maintain the living conditions.  Additionally, a Memorial Brick Program has gotten early success as families and groups find they can commemorate the memory of their Veteran or give encouragement to Veterans of recent conflicts.

Groups, organizations, churches, city government entities and Veterans/family members are invited to participate in the building and outfitting of the Veterans House program.  Contact Kimberly Few at 317-988-1220 for more information.
